People who choose to learn electric guitar often already know how to play something on an acoustic guitar and want to diversify their repertoire. They may want to add songs that require a particular sound, which can be achieved by adding effects to the guitar tone. This is where the electric guitar is indispensable, as an acoustic guitar is not suited to such techniques.
You will learn how to work with effects, set them up and, of course, play using them. The repertoire will be chosen entirely around your musical taste. It is very important to play what you enjoy—it keeps you motivated and helps you find time to pick up the guitar in a busy schedule. You will also learn essential principles of music structure. This is necessary for improvising and working things out by ear. You will practise exercises that help you play your favourite riffs more accurately and faster. We will create a detailed plan after the first lesson, based on your current ability and your ambitions for the guitar.
If this is your first instrument, you need to start with the fundamentals: position your hands correctly, learn how to use a pick, play and change chords, and practise exercises that develop the dexterity of both hands for playing solos. You will learn the basics of music theory and how to play from tabs and sheet music. Sheet music is optional, of course, but learning it will help you understand music better and play with skilled musicians who play instruments other than guitar, such as violin, saxophone or piano.
